An Indian court in Jodhpur has sentenced Bollywood superstar Salman Khan to 5 years in jail for poaching rare antelope back in 1998. The court also fined him 10,000 Indian rupees for the crime.
Salman Khan killed the two blackbucks, a protected species, in the western state of Rajasthan while shooting a film.
Salman Khan along with Saif Ali Khan, Tabu, Sonali Bendre and Neelam were charged with hunting two chinkaras in Rajasthan in September 1998, while shooting for the film Hum Saath Saath Hain.
Four other actors who starred with him in the movie and were also charged with the offence have been acquitted.
Salman Khan can appeal against the verdict in a higher court.
